LYDIA MCCAIG
Lydia McCaig is a multi disciplinary artist, primarily using analogue photography and text to express the complexities of female sexuality in a contemporary and increasingly feminist society.
Writing poetry as a way to communicate and challenge hidden taboos in female sexuality, the artist developed a minimal, suggestive, seductive yet subtle photographic aesthetic to convey her place within these social constructs and her own sexuality. Dust, grain, blur and imperfections created sometimes decisively and sometimes incidentally through her lo-fi photographic style enforce the narrative, that women’s sexuality is an imperfect story.
